In the summer of 2006, Mark Consiglio and Nicola Consiglio (Ideas Designs) set out to build twenty cottages on the west side of Okanagan Lake, near Kelowna BC. The true lake front cottages are impeccably furnished and come with lake-facing decks, each with a unique stairway to a fish-habitat-sensitive dock where guests can keep their boats when they’re not swimming, waterskiing, wakeboarding or fishing.
The one-of-a-kind dock is removed in the fall – it also has plexiglass sections to allow more light to get through – so spawning Kokanee salmon can continue to naturally lay their fry for generations to come on the shoreline. During the first spawning season at The Cottages, the Kokanee returned to spawn in great numbers.
